Spatcom gives you a simple way to explain geography study related to map competence, Remote Sensing, and GIS. Beside that with available database Spatcom can become a tool to explain or practice other competence.
For example, there are an region and regional model (Village – City, Region Concept, Growth Region, Regional Interaction Models) at XII grade IPS class. One of model competence is interaction, example if we want to know interaction strength in a region by statistic analysis. Use graph theory from statistic analysis to determine connectivity index (calculate interaction strength in a region). If its index < 1 mean connectivity index is low the other way if its index > 1 mean connectivity index is high, below is connectivity index formula:
ß= e/v
ß = connectivity index
e = amount central network that connective city’s activity
v = city’s activity center
Spatcom can present and provide required parameters to accomplish those formula about interaction strength. In fact there are still much Spatcom benefits to be applied in geography study such as gravitation theory modification by WJ Reilley. Its theory is to calculate strength interaction between two regions or more and Stoppage Point Theory to delimitate activity or determine certain social facility location.
